Supercarmovies.com – A High Quality Supercar Short Film Site

One of the editors here at Automotive Addicts ask permission to post something about a fairly new movie based automotive site, Supercarmovies.com. It seems Supercarmovies.com is a flashed based website part of a movie development crew that does movies specifically on “supercars”. Among some of the latest movies that they have done are test drives of the Corvette Z06, Koenigsegg CCX and Lamborghini LP640. After watching a few of the movies we were partly amazed at the time and effort put into the clips to create high quality films. Each movie may be only a few minutes long only to not bore some with the redundancy of driving a supercar over beautiful scenic routes and popular race courses.
We must say Supercarmovies.com is a well put together website backed by an excellent movie production staff. Each movie is nicely done and the HD format movies is an added bonus.
If you have time, stop by Supercarmovies.com and watch a few of the supercar films. It aint no youtube now, so don’t expect hundreds of low quality movie clips, only the best stuff.

BMW M3 Video: BMW M3 Convertible Commercial Making Fun Of Mercedes Benz SL
This has not aired in the US yet but it is defiantly a funny commercial. Our friends at BMW Blog posted this a few days ago and we thought we would share with our viewers.
In the video the girl in the Benz asks the guy (in German) to make a wish. Well, after that boring drive in the Mercedes Benz the guy makes his wish for something a lot more exciting, it comes true and you can see the end result in the video.
Enjoy!
2008 CFBMW.org Poker Run – Orlando, FL POKERRUN

AutomotiveAddicts had the chance to go to and be a sponsor of the 2008 Poker Run in Orlando, FL May 24th 2008 hosted by CFBMW.org. The organizers of this year’s poker run did an excellent job setting up such a great and memorable event. We would like to thank them for having Angel Flight on board and the ability to raise a considerable amount for a good cause.
The event started off with a huge gathering in a parking lot at the Orlando, FL executive airport. We counted over 100 cars at the start of the event. The mapped out course included hills, twisties and blind corners that required some skill to maneuver in a spirited manor. All thought we were all able to keep ourselves out of the hands of the law, some did get a chance to talk to a highway patrolman, we wont disclose the reasons for the conversation.
We look forward to next year’s poker run among other events held by CFBMW.org and other automotive enthusiasts groups in the Florida area.
Take the time to view some of the images captured at the beginning of the event.

The 4-Door Sports Car Is Back: 2009 Nissan Maxima Overview

The new Nissan Maxima is Nissan’s MAXimum 4-door car that use to be dubbed the 4-door sports car. Many claim that the term “4-door sports car” has willfully returned to the new 2009 Nissan Maxima. The new Maxima is undoubtedly sexy but is it really sporty enough to be called a 4-door sports car that many knew of in the 1990’s.
$200K-Plus Lexus: Lexus LF-A Will Cost over $200K

Insideline has somewhat confirmed that the new Lexus LF-A will cost a bit over $200,000. Lexus officials stated that the new LF-A will have a number “two” in the beginning of the price tag. We know for sure it aint $20,000 so that only leaves $200,000. This will make the new Lexus LF-A the most expensive Lexus (or Toyota) ever.
Many of us have seen spyshots of the new Lexus “Supercar” on the Nurburgring race circuit sporting a possible sub 7 minute run just about on par with the infamous Nissan GT-R. But at $200,000 shouldn’t this be the car to defy laws of physics. Many will argue that the Nissan GT-R defys some of the laws of physics by just being a big bully in the super-car world that’s half the price. But really, are we comparing a Nissan to a Lexus? How dare us.
At $200,000 this new Lexus LF-A better do some amazing tricks like the one in the movie “Transporter 2” where the Audi does a 360 degree barrel roll and lands back on all fours. Yes, it better be that good. Look at some of the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s, that cost upwards of $200K, they all can do that right?
That’s one Hot Ferrari – Ferrari Is On Fire!

It always draws attention when you seen a “high-end” car go up in flames. Well, here is another one that bites the dust. Or should we say ASHES?
Not sure who you would really feel bad for in the situation of a car that coasts well into six figures. I really do not feel sorry for anyone, well maybe the car because it never really had a fair chance. But cars do not have souls do they?
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano shown in this HOT image was being driven by a guy who did not even own the car. It was actually his Bosses car whom asked him to drive it to the repair shop. Simply put, the driver heard a noise and then the car started a fire, a big fire. No one was injured during the incident except the car, obviously.
Below is a video of a Lamborghini Gallardo burning to a crisp… another exotic car that is just too hot to touch. Talking about a big warranty claim here.
Is Smart Really The Smart Choice When It Comes To Safety?

Smart has been scrutinized and questioned about it’s over-all safety when you consider the small size of the Smart Fortwo vehicle. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has released the official data on the Smart Fortwo vehicle crash tests results. The tests have actually raised some eyebrows in a good way if that is possible. The little car scored a rating of “good” in both frontal and side impact tests conducted by the IIHS. In the rear impact tests the Smart Fortwo scored an “acceptable”.
After the tests it seems apparent that the developers at Smart are actually “Smart” when it comes to making a safe Smart car. This car may be safer than some of those several ton SUV’s on the road today. Although you would not want the Smart car to “meet” a 4 ton SUV at any speed, that would not be so pretty and “Smart”.

My Ford Is Just As Good As Your Toyota

Many of you have seen the recent Ford commercials where they boast that Ford’s quality is just as good as Toyotas. Well, I have two questions. Is Fords quality just as good as Toyotas and is Toyota a benchmark setter in the world of “quality” of an automobile? You cannot deny the fact that Toyota has set a high mark for quality especially with their Lexus brand which comes in near the top of the list of J.D. Power Associates Initial Quality Survey each year. So who really said that Ford was on par with Toyota’s quality? It was actually a 3rd party that is not associated with J.D. Power & Associates that performed a so-called initial quality survey.
Toyota is not too happy with the claims that are plastered all over homes of America in one of Ford’s newest commercials. Even though Toyota has a justified right to defend their claim but as other automakers focus in and catch up to Toyota in the Initial Quality Survey Toyota does not feel this survey should be labeled as significant.
So is Ford REALLY on par with Toyota. We don’t want to bash either of the automakers, they both have excellent vehicles in all competitive automotive markets. We think only time will tell if Ford is all that and a bag of chips. Toyota has an excellent history when it comes to quality and it may take some time for others to prove that type of status. Will your Ford F-150 last longer than Jim’s Toyota Tundra? You may have to wait this one out.
