BMW RUN TO THE ISLAND MEET JUNE 28, 2008 – Jax, FL

Automotive Addicts helped set up yet another BMW Meet… this time it was a run to the island. It started off with lunch at Caddy Shack with about 40 people. We then headed up Interstate I95 on our journey to Amelia Island in sunny and HOT Florida. It was a great turnout and everyone had a great time. We want to thank Matt for helping put on a good meet and setting up the route. We also want to thank everyone for coming out to make this meet a success.

We will have a lot more events like this in the Jacksonville, FL area including all kinds of vehicles very soon.

[Video]Acura NSX Spied powering round Nurburgring.

I highly advise watching all 3minutes and 19 seconds and an extra pair of boxers is advised-The engine sound is just amazing. Even though it’s pretty early stages of development the car has managed a lap time 8 seconds behind its rival the Nissan GT-R. Do you like the Nissan GT-R,or Acura NSX better?

2009 MITSUBISHI LANCER GTS Test Drive

Mitsubishi gives the all-new Lancer GTS of 2008, a new more powerful inline 4-cylinder engine, and a new custom ‘Wicked White’ paint option, for model year 2009. The all-new Lancer GTS was engineered from bumper to bumper to provide a driven-to-thrill experience behind the wheel.

 

New styling includes a more aggressive front fascia with a ‘shark nose’, newly formed headlamp cluster, and two, wide, rectangular air-intakes. The aerodynamic bodykit comes with lower spoiler up front, deeper lower side skirts, and a rear featuring newly formed rear lamp clusters, a tall wing spoiler, and a wide, single exhaust tip. You can see the new wedge-shape with the steeply raked windshield pillars, scalloped doors, and rising beltline.

 

The all-new Lancer GTS projects a tauter, stronger stance through its design, and the effect is more than skin deep. The new Lancer GTS is built on a longer wheelbase and wider track-but with a slightly shorter overhang length. A wider track and longer wheelbase helps with Lancer’s solid, stable handling capability.

Technology breakthrough will bring Series Hybrids to mass market

 

Hybrid and pure Electric Vehicles (EVs) continue to be on the fringe of the mass market due to costs and range, and these disadvantages are not going away, even with $4 gas. The recent introduction of a new type of electric motor/drive from the aerospace industry is posed to move Series Hybrids into the mass market category. This breakthrough provides more power, better stamina, and increases simplicity which drives down costs.

Until now, there have only been two options for the electric motor for Hybrids, either a Permanent Magnet Motor (used in Toyota and Honda’s drive trains) or a 3-Phase AC Induction Motor (used by GM and Tesla).

2010 BMW M3 CSL Rendering

Here is a picture of an artists renderings of what it might look and I think it looks nice. No official images have been leaked of the CSL and no specs. The car is rumored to be released late 2009-late 2010. How many hp do you think the CSL will have and what features?

2010 Audi TT-RS Roadster Spied

As the Audi TT-RS comes closer and closer to production form, the Audi TT-RS roadster has been spotted. The TT-RS will use a 2.5L twin-turbocharged five-cylinder generating 350 horsepower which is a threat to the Porsche Boxter. Sales of the TT-RS are supposed to be going on some time in mid 2009. What is better though, this or the Porsche Boxter?

BMW Mockumentary: Launch a BMW 135i From Germany to USA

BMW finally admitted to making this mockumentary of launching/catapulting a new BMW 135i from Germany to the USA. It can be a very funny video as many people over some time thought that this was a totally fake video. Well, it is fake, BUT, it is real also because it IS actually promoted by BMW. This is why BMW denied claiming this video until they got a “feel” for how people accepted the video. The town represented in the video is fake so everything else following the introduction is…. Well…. Fake also.
