Barrett-Jackson Auction 2008: First Dodge Challenger SRT8 up for $400,000 – SOLD!

 

This year at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Dodge rolled out the all new Dodge Challenger SRT8 up for auction and it pulled in a near half a million right at $400,000 and that’s before the auction fees are added into the price. The winning bidder, who we do not have his name yet, will also get two tickets to the Nascar Dodge Challenger 500 race this year. The proceeds of this auction will go to the notMYkid organization benefiting kids with behavioral issues.

The new Dodge Challenger SRT8 has all the bells and whistles including a 6.1 Liter V8 HEMI with a 5-speed automatic tranny, sunroof, and navigation system. It will have a unique plaque on the dashboard identifying it as car #1 for the new Dodge Challenger lineup.

2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Hybrid, well not really a Hybrid, but its getting closer.

The new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 has something new to boast about but it is not a new look but rather more economical. Yes, we put the word “economical” in the same sentence as the Dodge Viper. How can we do that? – Well the new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 is not getting much better gas mileage despite the raise in horse power figures. The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 can reach speeds of 200mph and accomplish 0-60 in under 4 seconds while all getting a nice 13/22 mpg (city/highway) through its massive 8.4 liter V-10 with 600hp up from the older 8.3 liter. That figure is up from the old 12/20 mpg figure and that actually calculates into a savings of over $1,300 at the pump yearly and a lesser gas-guzzler tax. WOOT WOOT.. lets hear it for the 2008 Dodge Viper Hybrid SRT10 opps, we didn’t mean to put in that “Hybrid” word, please excuse us, we got carried away. I guess in this case you can have your cake and eat it too.

Speed Kings – Road & Track Exclusive

In case you missed this show down of the “speed kings” then here it is. Follow this link to Road and Track’s test of unbridled acceleration from a standing start to 200 mph. During the memorial day weekend these guys didn’t exactly bar-b-q but they had a BBQ on the asphalt at the Naval Air Station Lemoore in California’s San Joaquin Valley.
